After 12 years, a significant chapter in the history of TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen is coming to an end. Simon Gauzy, the long-standing team captain and one of the club’s most recognizable figures, will leave the club at the end of the current season to pursue a new challenge in his home country. The announcement was made with the expectation that his new club will be revealed soon.
Gauzy, a product of TTF’s youth academy and trained at the Liebherr Masters College, has played 337 matches with the club, winning 222 of them. Over the years, his greatest achievements have included a doubles victory in 2019 and, more recently, a cup triumph in 2025. A potential national championship could still follow. At 30 years old, the Frenchman will continue to live with his family in Ochsenhausen and train at the club's facilities, making his departure not just the end of an era for the club, but also the loss of a great personality. After much discussion, both the club and Gauzy agreed that it was time for him to explore new avenues.
Simon Gauzy: "This is not a goodbye, but a see you later."
"This is a very emotional farewell for me. Twelve years ago, I came to Ochsenhausen with my father as a young player, and at that time, I didn’t know that these would be the best years of my life. I had the honor of proudly wearing the blue shirt of this special town and club," Gauzy said.
"We’ve won three titles together, and I’ve developed into one of the world’s best players. But now, it’s time to face a new challenge, to gather new experiences, and to continue my growth as a player.
It was a tough decision because the club and fans have become like family to me. I want to thank everyone for their unwavering love and support in this beautiful, educational, and successful chapter of my life. I will always be a part of this club. Ochsenhausen will remain my home, and I will continue to live and train here. So, this is not a goodbye, just a see you later.
As a team, we still have one goal in mind after our cup win this year: the German championship. We will fight until the last point, and hopefully, we can celebrate together again."
President Kristijan Pejinovic: "Simon is part of our family and philosophy."
“We knew this day would come eventually, but it’s still hard for us to announce. Simon has been with us for twelve years, playing for TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, and he is part of us. He is also part of our philosophy of developing young top talents into world-class players, and Simon has become a world star under our guidance, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our partners over the years," said TTF President Kristijan Pejinovic.
“I remember very well when I met Simon’s father over twelve years ago in Paris to discuss his son’s future. I am very grateful that he believed in our work and vision for Simon, and I believe we were able to guide him in the right direction. This would not have been possible without Simon’s unwavering determination, both on and off the court. He has always given 110% for the club and its success, and he will continue to do so until his last match this season. Without his contribution, the three titles during his time here would not have been achieved, and the club will forever be grateful for that.
TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen thanks Simon sincerely for everything he has contributed, both on the court and personally. We are happy that he will continue to be part of the training group, and we wish him the greatest international success. We will continue to support him in his career, and who knows, maybe our paths will cross again in team table tennis one day."Source: TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen
