The road to the China National Games is taking shape as top players battled through the qualification rounds. While legends like Ma Long, Wang Chuqin, and Sun Yingsha punched their tickets, young talent Lin Shidong faced heartbreak, failing to qualify with his team.
Who’s In? ✅
Several of China’s biggest names will be competing in the team event at the National Games finals in November:
🔹 Ma Long (Beijing)
🔹 Wang Chuqin (Beijing)
🔹 Liang Jingkun (Hebei)
🔹 Lin Gaoyuan (Guangdong)
🔹 Hao Shuai (Tianjin)
🔹 Sun Yingsha (Hebei)
🔹 Liu Shiwen (Guangdong)
Meanwhile, Chen Meng and Wang Manyu had the luxury of advancing without even playing, as their teams secured qualification with ease.
Who Missed Out? ❌
One of the biggest shocks came from Lin Shidong, who couldn’t help his team secure a spot. Playing for Hainan, the 19-year-old had to face a harsh reality: despite competing in three consecutive editions of the qualifiers, his team still hasn’t won a single match. 😱
The Shanghai Advantage 🏓🔥
Notably, Shanghai, featuring the legendary Xu Xin, didn't even have to compete in the qualifiers. As one of the top four teams from the National Championships, they automatically advanced to the final stage in November.
What’s Next?
With the qualification battles settled, all eyes now turn to the finals in November, where China’s elite will fight for the ultimate team title. Can Ma Long and Wang Chuqin continue their dominance? Or will a new force rise to the top?
